The Excise and Prohibition officials are hopeful of takers for all the outlets in the district, for which gazette notification has been issued on Wednesday night by the district administration in Chittoor and Tirupati excise divisions.

Speaking to the media, Chittoor Superintendent (Excise) P. Narayanaswamy said that receipts of applications seeking outlets commenced from Thursday morning at PVKN Degree College. Special boxes were set up to receive applications from both Tirupati and Chittoor here.
He said that applications will be received till June 27, followed by scrutiny on 28, and draw of lots on 29, and issue of provisional licences on 30; with opening of new outlets from July 1
The official said that of the total 458 outlets, 24 each in Tirupati and Chittoor are earmarked for operation by the government.
For the commercial outlets, the application fee for rural areas is set at Rs. 30,000; for municipalities Rs. 40,000 and for corporation it is Rs. 60,000.
He said that those who wish to give premises for running government outlets can contact the officials at the Excise offices in Tirupati and Chittoor.
