Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu underlined the need for people to reject the BJP and ensure the victory of the candidates of the coalition partners in the ongoing elections to the Lok Sabha.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is known for giving assurances and not implementing them. The BJP in its manifesto said that it would take up linking of rivers and would implement it on schedule. But I am sure it will only remain as an assurance and will not be implemented,” he observed.

Mr. Naidu was addressing an election rally at Sri Ram Nagar in Gangavati, coming under the Kanakagiri Assembly segment forming part of the Koppal Lok Sabha constituency, in Koppal district on Sunday, seeking votes in favour of Congress candidate Rajashekar Hitnal.

Among the gathering were a large number of Telugus who have come from Andhra Pradesh and settled in various parts of the district, including Gangavati taluk, considered the ‘rice bowl’ of the State.

“Instead of depending upon Mr. Modi to implement the assurances on interlinking of rivers, we ourselves will take the initiative of removing the silt in Tungabhadra dam in Hosapete, providing water for drinking and irrigation in three districts each of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, and also implementing the other irrigation projects on the Krishna, Godavari and Pennar rivers on our own”, he said adding “we are thankful to the Prime Minister for speaking about these projects but I am sure that he will not be implementing them.”

Special relationship

Mr. Naidu said Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh had enjoyed a cordial relationship since the beginning and it would continue in future too. He appealed to the voters to elect the Congress candidates in all the six districts of Hyderab-Karnatak region and reject the BJP outright without giving it a chance to open its account in entire South India.

Reiterating doubts over the functioning of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMS), Mr. Naidu alleged that the PM had taken people of the country for a ride.

“Mr. Modi has betrayed Andhra Pradesh because of which I came out of the NDA.” he said.
