Student goes missing off RK Beach

A first-year engineering student of Andhra University has gone missing in RK Beach, while his friend was rescued by locals, when the duo ventured into the waters to clean their legs on Saturday morning.

The missing student was identified as B. Nilesh, first-year Civil Engineering (Integrated Course) of Andhra University. A group of 11 engineering students, including four girl students of the university, had gone to RK beach for playing kabaddi on the sands on Saturday morning. After spending some good time, Nilesh and Sravan ventured into the waters for cleaning their hands and legs.

After a few minutes, a big wave surged up and took them deep into the waters.

Sravan was rescued by locals while Nilesh has gone missing and is feared to have drowned. Sources said that Nilesh is a resident of Maddilapalem area in Vizag city.

Locals said there were no life guards at the beach at the time of the mishap that took place at around 7.20 a.m.
