Eleven passengers of the Lucknow-bound Yeshvantpur Express were robbed of their cell phones and valuables after they were drugged by unidentified miscreants, in the early hours of Thursday.

Co-passengers in the train alerted railway officials at the Gudur Station in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh after noticing them lying unconscious in their seats.

All the 11 passengers, belonging to Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, were shifted to a hospital in Gudur where they regained their consciousness and are being treated.

Railway SI A. Balakrishna told The Hindu that the unsuspecting passengers were befriended by some strangers and ate biscuits and drank cool drinks offered by them just half-an-hour after the train left Yeshvantpur.
