Elaborate arrangements are being made for the grand conduct of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara, scheduled to commence from September 30.

At a high-level review meeting chaired by TTD Special Officer A.V. Dharma Reddy on Tuesday, it was resolved to accord top priority to maintenance of hygiene in the temple town amid expectations of a huge turnout this year.

Briefing the media on the deliberations of the marathon meeting which was attended by heads of various departments, Mr. Reddy urged engineering officials to complete all the works relating to sanitation ahead of the commencement of the festival.

Personnel from the civil, electrical and water works departments were directed to ensure that the requirements of the devotees are well met and that drinking water is available round-the-clock at all major places.

As the demand for laddus will be high, authorities were directed to procure and maintain sufficient stocks of raw material.

Mr. Dharma Reddy exhorted Parakamani officials to ensure that there is no delay in the counting and transportation of coins from inside the main temple complex.

Reception officials were directed to randomly inspect various cottages and guesthouses and plug deficiencies if any on a war-footing. To bring in more transparency in the cottage allotment system, Mr. Dharma Reddy asked officials to install more Point of Sales (PoS) swiping machines at all allotment counters which shall also contribute in the faster clearing of crowds.

Every senior officer has been entrusted with the responsibility of supervising cottages and guesthouses in his demarcated area and submit a report by the next meeting next week.
