EG Grandhalaya Samstha chairman sworn in

Nallamilli Veerreddy, a Telugu Desam Party leader from Arthamuru, was sworn in as chairman of the East Godavari Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha in a colourful function here on Sunday. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Home Minister N. Chinarajappa and Kakinada MP Tota Narasimham were attended as chief guests of the function, in which MLAs and MLCs of the ruling party and officials were present.

Underscoring the need for strengthening the libraries all over the State, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said that efforts were on to ensure the collection of bad debts of cess from the civic bodies to the libraries. “To address the challenge of shortage of staff in the libraries, we are contemplating to hire employees on a contract basis,” he said, adding that the government was keen on the overall development of the libraries.

Despite severe financial crunch, he said that the State government was celebrating the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of new capital city ‘Amaravati’ on October 22.
