One of the three teams of the Election Commission of India (ECI) reviewing preparations in the State for elections this year visited Anantapur and reviewed electoral rolls and proposed security arrangements.
The ECI Secretary Malay Mallick and Section Officer Ravi met District Election Officer G. Veerapandian, Superintendent of Police G.V.G. Ashok Kumar and Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) of Tadipatri and Dharmavaram.
They discussed complaints from Tadipatri, Dharmavaram and Anantapur Assembly constituencies on deletion of voters’ names and perused documents available with the district administration. Moreover, they discussed the need for providing foolproof security at polling stations.
Meanwhile, a special drive will be launched on Saturday and Sunday (February 23 and 24) to enrol eligible voters, especially those aged 18 and 19. The administration had noticed that many young adults had not registered themselves as voters in the district, said Mr. Veerapandian.
Furthermore, a vehicle to spread awareness on voting began a tour of the district three days ago.
