For the first time, students appearing for EAMCET 2016 are barred from wearing wrist watches in addition to the ban on use of mobile phones and calculators to the exam centres.
They will have to depend on a clock hung on the wall of their exam hall to see the time. This is because the authorities feel that some of the latest technology-induced smart watches can give the user an unfair advantage in exams.
“I find it hard to accept that watches will not be allowed inside the exam hall. Sophisticated watches that can play the role of a messenger in the exam hall are not available in the local market. They usually cost a bomb and are certainly out of reach for most students. How many candidates can afford such watches?” wonders Akhil M.
“It is understandable that mobile phones are banned. But normal wrist watches? If at all there are students who use them, it should not be too difficult for the invigilators to ‘confiscate’ them temporarily till the end of the exam. Why should every student me made to write exam without their timepiece?” chips in an agitated Madhu Hasitha, also aspiring for a medical seat.
