Drone survey of capital region begins

n tune with its promise of developing Amavarati into a ‘21st century People’s Capital’, the State government has deployed aerial photogrammetry to create topographical maps of the capital region.

On Wednesday, Triton Wi, a professional from Surbana MNC firm of Singapore, began capturing the aerial images of the region spread across 219 sq.km in the three mandals of Thullur, Tadepalli and Mangalagiri.

Weighing 2.5 kg, the drone has an amazing capacity to capture high-resolution digital 3D images at an astonishing speed. The drone has been equipped with a 3D camera that can capture objects as close as 10 cm resolution.

Travelling at a speed of 100 miles per hour, the drone can complete the task of capturing topographical images within 12 days.

“We will complete the survey by the end of October. After interpolating the topographical maps with the Electronic Total Station (ETS) survey reports, we are planning to allot reconstituted plots to land owners who have parted with their lands under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS),” said a senior official in the Planning Department of the CRDA The device has been equipped with features to assess the impact of flood, depletion of green cover and structural stability, too.
