Devuji to head CMC

In the recent times, apart from disbanding the erstwhile north Gadchiroli-Gondia-Balaghat-Rajnandgaon division and forming the Gadchiroli-Rajnandgaon-Balaghat (GRB) division and asking its general secretary Muppala Lakshman Rao alias Ganapathi to step down Basavraj, the central committee of the CPI (Maoist) has also reportedly elevated Tippiri Tirupati alias Devuji to head the Central Military Commission (CMC).

The CMC was earlier headed by Basavraj and it is the fighting force of the CPI (Maoist). The CMC’s role is to design operational plans, which include attacks on security forces, recruiting cadres and funding through extortion.

The military structure also comprises of divisions, which includes the PLGA (People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army), the main armed platoons and the militia members.

There is a plan to conduct the sixth central committee meeting of Maoist party in the Abujmarh area in Chhattisgarh later this month and arrangements are being looked after by Mollojula Venugopal alias Sonu and Tippiri Tirupathi alias Devuji.

To strengthen the central committee, senior leaders such a Narmada, Tekkellapalli Vasudeva Rao alias Ashanna, Paka Hanumanthu alias Uke Ganesh, Pothula Kalpana alias Mainakka, Katha Ramachandra Reddy alias Vikalp (official spokesperson of DKSZC) and Yapa Narayana alias Haribhushan, are likely to be elevated to the central committee in its sixth meeting.

The GRB division has been reportedly entrusted the task to oversee operations and recruitment in the tri-junction of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
