Development of Girijans by implementing all government schemes will be the prime focus of the police, said Attada Babujee, Superintendent of Police, Visakhapatnam district, here on Friday.

He was addressing the media after taking charge as the new SP from Rahul Dev Sharma, who will now head the SIT that has been constituted to investigate into the killing of Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former MLA Siveri Soma.

Maoist issue

According to Mr. Babujee, who earlier worked as SP Kadapa and OSD Narsipatnam, he and his team will work towards good policing and try to make the police force as much accessible as possible to the general public.

Ganja smuggling and tackling Maoist issue will also be in the focus and those obstructing development, especially in the Agency area, will be severely dealt with, he said. Mr. Babujee is a 2011 batch IPS officer and this will be his second stint to the district.

He was OSD of Narsipatnam, when Ramaguda exchange of fire took place in October 2016.
