Supporters of ticket aspirants demand that their leaders be given a chance

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that a decision on nomination of party candidates for the remaining Assembly segments and the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat would be taken in the next couple of days.

The TDP has not announced party nominees for the Bheemunipatnam, Gajuwaka, Pendurthy, Chodavaram and Madugula Assembly segments in the district and the Visakhaptnam Lok Sabha seat so far.

Supporters of ticket aspirants of various leaders raised slogans hailing their respective leaders and tried to draw the attention of the Chief Minister at the election meeting held at the Sharada Bakery ground, beside the National Highway at Marripalem, on Sunday afternoon.

Supporters raise slogans

Supporters of Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivas were seen holding cut-outs of the Chief Minister with an inset of the MLA’s picture, demanding that their leader be given the ticket for the Gajuwaka Assembly segment and not the Lok Sabha ticket. Some others were heard shouting against the inordinate delay in the finalisation of the Bheemunipatnam Assembly ticket.

The TDP president, in a bid to pacify them, said, “Before finalising the names I wanted to meet all of you and interact with you. Our mission is to win over 150 Assembly segments, as well as all of the 25 Lok Sabha seats.”

Describing the coming elections as ‘historic’, Mr. Naidu recalled how he had strived for the development of the State despite lack of cooperation from the Modi government. He alleged that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao was cooperating with Mr. Jagan to steal the data collected by the TDP through Seva Mitras, to help the YSRCP.

Mr. Naidu spoke of his efforts in developing the Fintech Valley, the Data Centre and tourism promotion in Visakhapatnam city and in clearing the Sujala Sravanthi project, which would ensure drinking water to the city.

Railway zone

Referring to the South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone, with its headquarters in Visakhapatnam as announced by the Modi government, Mr. Naidu described the zone as a “body without a head”.

“The 125-year-old Waltair Division was divided into two and the revenue-earning part was given to the proposed Rayagada Division in Odisha, while the remaining part was proposed to be merged with Vijayawada Division. This would result in Waltair Division, slipping into history,” Mr. Naidu said.
