Cult robes create flutter during polling

March 19, 2012 08:14 am | Updated 08:14 am IST - KAMAREDDI (NIZAMABAD DT.):

The Sevalal Swamiji cult, popular among the Lambada tribe, became an objectionable point for the Congress and TDP when at polling station number 165 at Indiranagar one of the polling officers, P. Bhagavanulu, attended to his duties wearing the pink robes (the cult's dress) as he is following the 21-day deeksha.

Mr. Bhagavanulu, a teacher in ZP High School, Indalwai, reportedly attended the short training to conduct polling in the same robes. The officials were not so keen then on his Sevalal cult robes as they did not think that the dress would create any problem.

TDP and Congress activists took exception to his dress saying that the robe's colour - pink – was the same as the TRS flag's colour.

Therefore, as soon as they objected, the officials sent him out of the polling station. However, this action attracted the wrath from Sevalal devotees.
