‘Crorepati’ bill collector of GMC in ACB net

Documents pertaining to properties worth ₹50 cr. seized

A bill collector working in the Guntur Municipal Corporation, Mudraboyina Madhav, was taken into custody by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Wednesday on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to known sources of income.

Nine teams led by ACB DSP Devananda Santo conducted simultaneous searches in Guntur and at Machavaram village in Ponnur mandal and seized documents relating to lands, plots, jewellery and cash worth ₹50 crore in open market.

The accused was known to have possessed four houses, 20 plots, ₹7 lakh and jewellery.

Real estate venutres

Madhav was appointed under the compassionate appointment category in 2012 after the death of his father.

Madhav was known to have invested in real estate ventures in and around Guntur and gained rapidly after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Suspended

Madhav was suspended by the then Municipal Commissioner Nagalakshmi.S in 2016, and was reinstated later.

He was also having an office in Arundelpet in the name of his wife.
