While the top 10 list in engineering (APEAMCET) featured only boys and no girls, there were only three girls among the top 10 in medicine.
In medicine, girls toted up a figure of 91.1 per cent and boys 87.4 per cent. However, boys dominated both the top 10 ranks. Releasing the results, Minister for Human Resources Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao said counselling for admission to engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh would commence on June 12.
Medical and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said the counselling date for medical college admissions would be announced soon.
According to Mr. Srinivasa Rao, though it was initially decided to release the results on May 26, it was advanced to speed up the admission process. “We thought our students should not have to go to universities in neighbouring States owing to delays here,” he said. Rank cards will be despatched to students from May 24, while ranks of CBSE students who sat for APEAMCET will be released only after the announcement of their class 12 results, Mr. Rao added. The Minister further said upon the advice of an expert committee, three questions were deleted from consideration in the APEAMCET engineering question paper, and that valuation was done for only 157 questions.
Similarly, in the medical stream, seven questions were judged invalid, and valuation was done for only 153. Of the 1.41 lakh students who appeared for the test, 1.29 lakh secured eligibility for admission to engineering colleges. The results of the 9,433 CBSE candidates will be announced later. Of the 81,010 students who appeared for EAMCET medicine, 79,398 students were declared eligible to join medical colleges.
