Three years after bifurcation, the BJP has turned the tables on the Congress for the problems being faced by the State.
National executive member of the party Somu Veerraju has blamed the UPA Government headed Manmohan Singh for trying to pass the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill in Parliament in a haphazard manner.
“It was the BJP that had prevented the lopsided Bill from being passed, thus ensuring a fair deal to the State,” the MLC told the media here on Friday.
Mr. Veerraju said that the Congress had not included the Special Category Status (SCS) in the Bill. It was only an oral announcement by the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, he said. The BJP leader flayed Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for trying to stir a hornet’s nest by trying to raise the bifurcation issue in Andhra Pradesh on the pretext of demanding the SCS.
Dig at TTD
Turning his ire on the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), he found fault with its spending pattern.
“The expenditure towards propagation of the Hindu dharma and allied activities has come down,” he said.
He sought inclusion of a local Agama expert on the TTD Trust Board for ensuring adherence to the temple’s doctrines.
Earlier, National Commission for Women’s former member K. Santha Reddy, OBC Morcha State president Jally Madhusudhan, district president B. Chandra Reddy, and secretary Ponaganti Bhaskar welcomed him.
