Activists of the Congress party staged a demonstration asking BJP president Amit Shah, scheduled to visit Andhra Pradesh on May 25, to go back for not keeping the promises made by the BJP-TDP combine to fledgling Andhra Pradesh.
Leading the protest, Congress city unit president Sripathi Prakasam raised slogans against the BJP-TDP combine for ‘deceiving the State after promising Special Category Status (SCS) for 10 years as against five years decided by the Central Cabinet during the then UPA regime’.
“The BJP chief has no moral right to enter the State before fulfilling all the assurances made at the time of bifurcation,” said Congress Prakasam district unit president E. Sudhakar Reddy.

The Congress Party Srikakulam wing decided to organise a protest on Wednesday afternoon to highlight the 'failure' of the BJP government in sanctioning the Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.
Party leaders Chowdary Satish, Ratnala Narasimha Murthy, Pandranki Ramu and others said the party cadre would display placards with the slogan ‘Go Back Amit Shah’.
They said Mr. Amit Shah was equally responsible for the 'failure' in achieving its poll promise.
They urged the party leaders and cadre of all the 38 mandals to participate in the agitation.
