Collector P.S. Pradyumna on Saturday inspected the badly damaged roads due to heavy rains in Kuppam, Shantipuram and Ramakuppam mandals and instructed the officials to undertake immediate repair works.

The Collector also visited half a dozen villages, including Kangundi, near the inter-State Palar river and directed the revenue and police officials to be on alert round the clock in view of more inflows expected into the river from the Bethamangalam reservoir in Karnataka apart from the rain forecast in the coming days.

Responding to the appeals of some groundnut farmers in the Kuppam Assembly constituency to look into the damage of crops, Mr. Pradyumna said the officials would enumerate the loss and submit the report, based on which appropriate action would be taken.
