‘Forty of my buses have been seized, 15 in Anantapur district alone’

Former Anantapur MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy has accused the YSRCP leaders of trying to coerce him into joining their party.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, the TDP leader, who owns a fleet of buses, said that nearly 40 vehicles had been seized at various places in the State, and 15 impounded in the district alone.

“Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is using the official machinery to target him as there is nothing to proceed against him in any manner,” said Mr. Reddy.

Tribunal order

“Despite the tribunal upholding our appeal and directing the Road Transport Authority to release the vehicles, six buses are kept at Anantapur RTC Complex, two each at Hindupur and RTO check-post, one at Penukonda, and four at Guntakal,” Mr. Reddy alleged, and showed the papers pertaining to the tribunal order.

The government was forcing the RTA officers to book cases against the same bus at different locations, he alleged.

Mr. Reddy said he would serve a legal notice on Vara Prasad, a Motor Vehicle Inspector at Anantapur RTA, for “targeting” his buses alone.

‘Will file cases’

“I have decided to personally file cases against eight officers in Anantapur so that they will stop obeying wrongful orders from their higher-ups,” he said.

Asked if he was criticising Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy as he wanted to join the BJP, Mr. Diwakar Reddy said, “I have no cases against me. I do not want any political post. I am not cozying up to any party. I will remain in the TDP.”

“I have learnt that the government intends to serve notices on me on mining leases I hold. I will take it head on,” he asserted.
