CM reviews rain, asks Japanese Cos to invest in A.P.

December 02, 2015 03:50 pm | Updated 03:50 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu instructed the district administration of Chittoor and Nellore to be alert as more rains are expected to lash the two districts during the next two days. He wanted the authorities to take up extensive relief operations and shift all those stuck in flood waters to relief camps at the earliest.

Conducting a teleconference with the Collectors of Chittoor and Nellore districts, besides MLAs, MPs and other elected public representatives, the Chief Minister directed the health, rural water supply and sanitation departments to form teams and take up chlorination activities to curb spread of diseases and conduct medical camps at different places in the two districts.

Authorities informed that Chittoor had received 5 CM to 16 CM rainfall and similarly Nellore recorded heavy downpour and people in vulnerable areas were being shifted to relief camps.

Mr. Naidu said that taking up relief measures during the next two days was a challenge and wanted the Ministers and MLAs to monitor the rescue and relief operations in respective districts. Given the previous damages on the Chennai-Kolkata route, he directed the authorities to ensure that road network was not damaged and wanted them to ensure better facilities for the people.

Food processing

Later, addressing at the networking conclave between Japanese and domestic food processing industry, Mr. Naidu said there were plenty of opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. It was the right time for Japanese companies to invest in the State, he added.

There is a huge demand for agro processing sector in the State. Many people, including those in the villages are becoming brand conscious due to changing lifestyle and financial empowerment and this provided a lot of scope for companies to offer quality products and services, he said.

“Andhra Pradesh should be considered as the second home for investment as we offer excellent infrastructure and clearances through single window system for setting up units,” he told the Japanese delegation, which was led by Masakazu Ikefuchi, Deputy Director – General International Affairs department, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan.

Soon after the programme, the Chief Minister left for Hyderabad to attend the marriage ceremony of former Minister Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy’s son. He cancelled his trip to Chittoor due to heavy rains and is likely to return to Vijayawada in the evening.

Earlier, former Ministers and senior Congress leaders Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Anam Vivekananda Reddy met Mr. Naidu at his residence and discussed few issues. They are likely to join the Telugu Desam party and this was a courtesy meeting with the Chief Minister, sources said.
