Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday called for creating a digital health profile of every citizen in the State to provide better healthcare services and set a three-year deadline to transform the State into Aarogya-Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at a workshop on “Aarogya Andhra” here on Monday, he said his aim was to eliminate poverty and create a healthy and happy society. To translate his plans into reality, he sought the cooperation of doctors, officials and corporate sector and also in making AP a medical hub and boost medical tourism.
Aadhaar linkage
Referring to the use of technology in Aadhaar linking and pension, the Chief Minister stressed on implementing the same for providing better medical facilities. In this context, he reminded that more than 100 ailments were being treated under NTR Vaidya Seva.
He said details of 40 lakh children below 5 years have been computerised. “Reducing IMR and MMR and making healthcare services affordable is our aim,” he added.
Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y.S. Chowdhary, who has been appointed convener to monitor the activities of Aarogya-Andhra Pradesh, urged medical colleges and hospitals to explore CSR and other alternatives instead of depending on the government for funds. “Every person holding a medical degree must serve in the rural areas,” he added.
G.V. Prasad Co-Chairman and CEO of Reddy’s Laboratories, Dr. K. Srinath Reddy, president, Public Health Foundation of India, Dr. B.K. Rao, Chairman ASSOCHAM National Council on Healthcare & Hospitals, Girish Krishnamurthy, Vice-President TCS Healthcare Solutions were among those who attended the workshop.
Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, Special Chief Secretary, Medical and health department L.V. Subramanyam and other senior officials were present.
