Club raided, 120 held for gambling

The Tirupati Urban Police on Sunday raided a private club run by local TDP leader Bhaskar Reddy and arrested 120 persons on charges of gambling. According to police, the club (social and cultural association) was run without proper documents, and that visitors used to resort to gambling on its premises, breaking norms, besides allowing those without membership inside.

Cash seized

Police also seized Rs. 2.26 lakh in cash along with as many as 99 mobile phones and 56 two-wheelers. Cases have been booked against the accused under Sections 3 and 4 of the Andhra Pradesh Gambling Act. Police said that the owner, who was absconding, would soon be arrested.
