As a part of Swachh Andhra Pradesh campaign, a series of cleanliness drives would be organised from Friday concluding with a massive plantation programme on October 12. The GVMC has set for itself a target of planting 35,000 saplings in three to four months and so far 18,000 were planted spending Rs.2.5 crore. In the last four days of the campaign, 12,000 saplings would be planted.

The campaign begins with beach cleanup and rally on Gandhi Jayanthi.

Meanwhile, the week-long Swatch Visakha would commence at the R.K. Beach on Friday, Collector N. Yuvaraj said and requested the people to participate in the programme all over the district to make it a clean and hygienic district.

Intensive cleanliness drive would be taken up in every village as per an action plan prepared by the government. Mr. Yuvaraj also said that Gandhi Jayanti would be celebrated at the Collectorate.
