Civil Aviation Policy finalised

Information and Public Relations Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said the cabinet also finalised the Civil Aviation Policy, which seeks to create a Regional Airport Development Fund with a revolving amount of Rs.100 crore. It also envisages increasing the number of air travellers to Andhra Pradesh from 1.7 million a year to 25 million by 2022. He said currently only one per cent of the air passengers visit the State.

The policy seeks to develop international airports at Bhogapuram, Vijayawada and Tirupati and new airports under the PPP mode at Orvakallu (Kurnool), Daggatharthi (Nellore), Kuppam (Chittoor), Tadepalligudem (West Godavari), Donakonda (Prakasam) and Nagarjunasagar.The government would exempt land given to the developer from stamp duty and reimburse his land conversion and electricity duty charges. Property tax would also be exempted. Mr. Reddy said the Cabinet also approved a Fibre Optic Grid Policy which seeks to provide 10-120 mbps broadband connectivity to every household in the state.
