Civic chief passes away

Chairman of Amalapuram Municipality Yalla Malleswara Rao, 68, died while undergoing treatment for prolonged illness at a private hospital here on Sunday. He is survived by his wife and a son.

A retired officer from the Endowments Department, Malleswara Rao entered the politics in 2005.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief and conveyed his condolences to the family members of Mr. Rao.

He was undergoing treatment at the hospital for the last 10 days.

The Chief Minister said the demise of Mr. Rao was a huge loss to the Telugu Desam party as he was playing a crucial role in the party since 1983.

Home Minister N. Chinna Rajappa expressed his condolences over the death of Malleswara Rao and recalled the services rendered by him for the development of Amalapuram.
