The Andhra Pradesh Municipal Commissioners’ Association on Saturday resolved to put its might behind to achieve imitative the State Government’s clean AP programme as part of larger Swachh Bharat.

The Association meeting by civic body chiefs from all over Andhra Pradesh to discuss various issues, including service-related ones, said “We are fully committed to implement welfare schemes and programmes of the Union and State Governments, including Clean India.”

“It is fully possible to achieve Swachh Bharat. But the governments should create a conducive atmosphere by strengthening our hands to achieve the ambitious plan,” Association president and Regional Director Municipal Administration V. Rajendra Prasad said while briefing the media on resolutions adopted at the meeting.

The meeting, in another resolution, thanked State Municipal Administration Minister P.Narayana for putting an end to the practice of appointing officers from other departments as Municipal Commissioners on deputation, affecting promotions for department officers. The civic body chiefs were upset with holding of frequent meetings at the state and district levels simultaneously, putting them in piquant situation.

They wanted filling up of vacancies in the departments to reduce their workload and gazetted officer status to the heads of ‘third-grade’ municipalities.
