CIDC to train local college students for gainful employment

RERA facilitates MoU between CIDC and 15 engineering colleges in State

As part of implementation of its development agenda, Andhra Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (APRERA) has facilitated a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), a national-level skill development body working as part of NITI Aayog, to streamline developmental needs of the construction industry and 15 engineering colleges in the State.

AP RERA has also entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the CIDC, which conducts training and standardisation programmes for quality enhancement in different sectors of the construction industry.

Exchanging a copy of MoU with representatives of the engineering colleges in the presence of AP RERA chairperson V. Ramnath and members Mullapudi Renuka and Chandu Sambasiva Rao, Director General of CIDC P. R. Swarup said: “Andhra Pradesh should become a hub of skilled manpower for the construction industry.”

These 15 colleges will work as training centres for different employment-oriented skills related to construction industry. The colleges will provide physical infrastructure and select deserving candidates while the CIDC will impart training. Besides students of the college, rural youth from villages around the institution will benefit from the scheme.

Pilot project

Mr. Swarup also spoke about new areas like quality assurance and quality feedback in the construction industry where students can be trained to gain employment. The RERA is also talking to AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) to initiate a pilot project, utilising the resources of CIDC.

Ratna Prasad, Director of Chalapathi Institute of Engineering and Technology D. Vinay Kumar and Bapatla Engineering College’s Ch. N. Satish Kumar were present at the MoU-signing programme.
