Chittoor Excise Sub-Inspector lands in ACB net in DA case

10 house sites and four houses among assets unearthed

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped Erragopula Vijaya Kumar, working as Sub-Inspector in the Department of Prohibition and Excise, Chittoor, on Friday, and unearthed several properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Simultaneous raids

Acting upon information, sleuths of the ACB conducted simultaneous raids at five places – two in Chittoor, and one each in Tirupati, Kurnool and Katpadi (Tamil Nadu). The searches started at 6.30 a.m. at the house of the accused and also that of his friend, both in Chittoor town, his sister’s house in Tirupati, and his in-laws’ place at Katpadi in Vellore district.

A party was pressed into service to search the office premises at Naguladinne check-post in Kurnool, where he is presently working.

Benami assets

A shed at Kajoor was found in the name of the accused. There were four residential houses, three in Kajoor and one in Greamspet, in Chittoor town in the name of his wife Meena, besides 10 house sites and three farm lands in Yadamari mandal, a four-wheeler, a tractor and a trailer.

A plot and a four-wheeler were found in the name of his son Vivek. Cash of ₹10 lakh and 700 grams gold estimated to value ₹10 lakh were also unearthed.

Two bank lockers were yet to be opened.

Produced in court

The accused was arrested and produced before the special court for ACB cases.
