Veeresh Jadhav, a child who was abducted in Tirumala on Friday, was traced in Nanded, Maharashtra.

Special teams were deputed by the Tirupati Urban district police to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Maharashtra and to the neighbouring districts of Nellore and Anantapuram. But the team that went to Maharashtra zeroed in on Veeresh Jadhav and his abductor at Nanded.

Veeresh had been rescued and was expected to be reunited with his parents on Monday, while the abductor was reportedly in custody.

16-month-old Veeresh, who was sleeping with his parents Prashanta Jadhav and Sneha in an open place, was abducted early on Friday. The parents first approached the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) vigilance sleuths and registered a complaint with the Police.

The child was rescued within 48 hours, thanks to the effective use of technology. “The CCTV footage provided by the vigilance and security department of the TTD offered the first inkling of the accused. The city police found him moving suspiciously around the Tirupati railway station and his identity became clearer with the recovery of more footage from a series of locations,” K.K.N. Anburajan, Superintendent of Police, told The Hindu. The photo of the boy, the rough sketch of the accused and the police contact numbers provided to the media on Saturday came as the second crucial piece of evidence, which were transmitted all over the country and even became viral on social media.
