Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar said failure to achieve the targets in the construction of houses under NTR urban and rural housing schemes would be viewed seriously.

He observed that there was no dearth of funds as the State and the Central governments have made enough money available under the NTR housing scheme and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and it was up to the Housing Department to stick to the deadlines while ensuring that the quality standards are not breached.

At a review meeting on housing at the Secretariat on Wednesday, Mr. Kumar instructed the A.P Housing Corporation (APHC) Managing Director Kantilal Dande to expedite the construction of houses and to take a serious note of the dereliction of duty on the part of the officials and staff of the housing and other line departments.

The CS expressed displeasure at the tardy progress of construction of 9,170 houses sanctioned for the victims of Hudhud cyclone and ordered that urgent action should be taken to speed up things.
