Chennai varsity first in India to adopt CDIO initiative

Chennai-based Vel Tech Dr. RR and Dr. SR Technical University (VTU) has become the first in the country to adopt worldwide Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) initiative.

This innovative educational framework was founded in the year 2000 by world's premier institutions, which includes top 100 QS-ranked ones such as MIT, Stanford, Penn State in United States, University of Leeds and University of Liverpool in United Kingdom, RWTH Aachen in Germany, Tsinghua in China etc.

"The distinction was accorded at a meeting at Yanshan University in China on March 24, owing to VTU's implementation of Outcome Based Education (OBE) and other innovative practices", VTU Vice President K.V.D. Kishore Kumar told the media here on Monday.

This pedagogical process would not only produce next generation engineers but also help the institutions in adapting to global changes and challenges of engineering education.
