Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister or State for AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) has said that the Government of India is emphasising on the revival of the Ayurveda system of medicine which is becoming an integral part of the medical delivery system in India.
Mr. Naik said this while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the delegates’ session of the two-day 15{+t}{+h}State conference of the Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI) here on Sunday.
Initiatives
He said that AYUSH had already taken many initiatives to promote ayurveda.
The Minister said that ayurveda is growing in the paradigm of contemporary scientific, technological and medical parameters throughout the globe. Mr. Naik called for more efforts to generate interest among the people to appreciate and adopt ayurveda as the main health care system.
“AMAI should take the lead to promote general awareness about ayurveda by organising health camps and campaigns,” he said.
He said that Kerala has a rich heritage of ayurveda and the system had prevailed and grown in the State in its classical form.
The ayurveda system is also deep rooted in everyday Kerala life.
He invited a delegation of the AMAI to Delhi for probing ways to further promote ayurveda in the country.
At the function, Mr. Naik presented special awards of the AMAI to the organising secretary of Santigiri Ashramam, Guru Ratnam Njana Tapaswi and the special correspondent of Kerala Kaumudi, Rajan Babu, for the contributions towards promoting the ayurveda system of medicine.
AMAI State president Vinod Kumar presided. K.B. Balagopal, MP, delivered the keynote address and N.K. Premachandran, MP spoke.
