Former Union Minister Chinta Mohan has asserted that the State government is seriously contemplating moving the capital from Amaravati to Donakonda in Prakasam district, the place the YSR Congress Party had considered prior to the State bifurcation.

Speaking after paying respects at the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 75th birth anniversary here on Tuesday along with AICC member K. Prameelamma, PCC general secretary Penubala Chandrasekhar and INTUC honorary president P. Naveen Kumar Reddy, Dr. Mohan predicted that the State’s geo-political landscape was in for a major change as a result.

‘Airport privatisation’

In the same vein, he accused the Centre of hatching a conspiracy to privatise the Tirupati international airport, claiming that the Union government had even prepared a Cabinet note in this regard. Dr. Mohan recalled that the international terminal became a reality, with the painstaking efforts of the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

On the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s call for debate on reservations, Dr. Mohan warned that any form of tampering with the issue could lead to a civil war in the country.

Party leaders Narayanaswamy, Santi Yadav and Muni Sobha were present.
