The Communist Party of India (Maoist) seems to be trying to make its presence felt in the Capital region by issuing a press release on call money-cum-sex racket. The Left wing extremism in Krishna district is negligible though they have foot prints in Palnadu area of Guntur District.
The CPI (Maoist) has stated that it would punish the people involved in call money racket in a praja court (public court) if the State Government doesn’t desist from shielding the culprits.
Though the letter was dated December 27 (Sunday), it was delivered at The Hindu office in early hours of Monday. Veracity of the press release could not be established, but the letter was allegedly signed by Syam, official spokesperson of CPI (Maoist) Andhra Pradesh State Committee. He stated that the Government and police were shielding the call money racketeers as TDP MLAs, MLCs were involved in the murky episode.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was hell bent on protecting his partymen who forcibly pushed the women into flesh trade, he alleged. The photos published in media indicate that the racketeers were closely associated with Mr. Naidu and Additional DG (the letter did not name). The Telugu Desam leaders abused their power and steered the call money-cum-sex racket in guest houses in and around Vijayawada, the Maoists said.
The Government ordered raids on money lenders across the State to give an impression that it was common money lending business. The removal of Anganwadi workers from their services was another ploy to divert the public attention from Vijayawada episode. The people, political parties and women's organisations need to understand the dirty tricks of the Government, he stated.
He further wrote, “The CPI (Maoist) demands action against the culprits. Else, it will punish them in praja court.”
