Brochure on heart and brain diseases released


Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas on Wednesday released a brochure on ‘Ten Commandments’ to prevent heart and brain diseases prepared by Cardiological Society of India Andhra Pradesh Chapter president P. Chandrasekhar, in Hyderabad.

Health awareness campaign

The Minister also gave his nod to the Cardiological Society of India campaign to spread health awareness among people, as 80 per cent of the 17.3 million deaths in the world, caused by heart and brain strokes, can be prevented through lifestyle changes.

The 10 commandments to be propagated by the State government and the Cardiological Society of India include dietary discipline, physical exercise, proper rest, regulating smoking and avoiding stress, Dr. Chandrasekhar said.

Principal Secretary of Medical and Health Poonam Malakondaiah, Director of Medical Education Venugopal, chief of the cardiothoracic department at the Kurnool General Hospital Prabhakar Reddy and CSI treasurer A. Vasanth Kumar were present.
