The government has decided to bring down the number of bars in the State. The government also plans to impose restrictions on their timings.

Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting on revenue-generating departments on Thursday.

On the occasion, he said the decision to slash the number of bars should come into force from January 1.

The decision was part of the government’s policy on prohibition. The bars should be located at places that do not cause inconvenience to the people. The officials concerned should take precautions while issuing bar licence. The sale of liquor at the bars should be between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. only. Guidelines should be prepared in this regard, he said.
