A brief spell of rainfall lashed the city on Tuesday evening bringing down the temperature. Following Monday’s sudden downpour and storm, the maximum temperature on Tuesday came down to around 37 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.6 degrees Celsius while 70.4 mm rainfall had occurred in the city and the surrounding areas, according to the IMD.
On the other hand, the problem of inundation of roads continued putting motorists and pedestrians in trouble.
Water-logging
Major roads were waterlogged due to poor drainage system. Finding water stagnation on the national highway, Municipal Commissioner J. Nivas, during an inspection, asked the authorities concerned to repair the pipelines arranged to drain rain water from the road between Ramavarappadu and Benz Circle.
He ordered the authorities to engage specialised machines available with the VMC to keep the road free from water logging and make permanent arrangements for the flow of rain water into side drains.
Many trees uprooted
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall occurred in various parts of the district. In Kanchikacherla, Nandigama and nearby towns and villages, heavy rain along with gales caused many trees to uproot. Hailstorms were also reported in other parts of the district.
