A.P. did not get its due because of Naidu, says Jagan

The huge fuss the State and Central governments were making over a budget for just four months showed to what extent politics had deteriorated, said YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Responding to the Union Budget introduced in Parliament and the discussion in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly here on Friday, Mr. Jagan said that even in the fifth budget there was nothing for A.P. This was because Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was totally ineffective, he charged.

Mr. Naidu surrendered to the Centre fearing prosecution in the “cash-for-vote” case and the BJP took advantage of it, Mr. Jagan alleged.

Mr. Naidu totally set aside the demand for the Special Category Status (SCS) and thanked the Narendra Modi government four times through resolutions passed by the Assembly.

“On the days the TDP thanked the Central government, our party MLAs attended the Assembly wearing black shirts,” he recalled.

“Even 30 seconds was not given to our members for speaking in the Assembly on the subject of the special package,” Mr. Jagan said.

‘People will react’

The TDP hailed the Modi government even though it released just ₹1 lakh for the Vizag Metro and not even a single rupee for the Polavaram project, he said. The parties that deceived the State would surely be taught a lesson, Mr. Jagan said.
