Gross financial indiscipline, lack of transparency in administration, and inability to keep promises made to the people have brought about the downfall of the TDP in the State, according to Deputy Chief Minister and MLC Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose.

In a reply to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s address in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, Mr. Bose said the Opposition party leaders should analyse the causes of their defeat.

‘Unkept promises’

The TDP went back on most of its promises. Of the 600-odd promises, the party had fulfilled barely 25 of them. There was no transparency in the welfare schemes implemented and people could see through the “farce” of the Janmabhumi committees. He said these committees, meant to identify beneficiaries of the welfare schemes, were given a free run, resulting in large-scale corruption.

Sand mining

Referring to the rampant sand mining allegedly with the support of the leaders in power and flouting of the law in luring the YSRCP MLAs, Mr. Bose said people quietly watched the “reign of anarchy” and gave their verdict when the right time arrived.

Loan waiver for the DWCRA women, he said, had only compounded the economic chaos.

Mr. Bose reiterated that his party was committed to implementing the programmes announced by party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

These included YSR Rythu Bharosa, Amma Vodi, YSR Arogyasri, YSR Aasara, pension and housing schemes, prohibition in a phased manner, and 50% reservation for SCs, STs and minorities in all posts.

SCS issue

Referring to the Special Category Status (SCS), he cited different occasions when TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu had publicly agreed that “special package was better than SCS and therefore his party had accepted it.”

In the capacity of the Leader of the House, Mr. Bose moved a resolution on grant of SCS to the State of Andhra Pradesh.
