In a scathing attack on Chief Minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu, BJP national official spokesman and former Union Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain alleged that Mr. Naidu was more interested in Muslim vote bank than giving credit to the minority leaders who had helped him in developing Hyderabad.

“As a Union Civil Aviation Minister, I helped and extended all possible cooperation to Mr. Naidu in developing Hyderabad airport.

“But, he hardly acknowledged it and claimed all credit,” said Mr. Hussain.

‘No communal riots’

There were no communal riots under BJP rule in the country unlike under so-called secular parties’ rule. In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the Zayed Medal, the highest civil honour of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently. Mr. Naidu, who visits Dubai and other Gulf countries, should make a note of it, he said, adding, Muslims were much safer in India than in any other Islamic nation.

The BJP leader was reacting to Mr. Naidu’s allegations that the Muslims would not be safe under the Modi government.

Referring to the Polavaram project, Mr. Hussain said, “Let the government be formed at the Centre after the elections. The ‘chowkidar’ (Mr. Modi ) will not allow the corrupt to go scot free. The focus is on the corrupt, both who fled the country and who continue to plunder the nation.”

The Centre has been releasing funds for the people of the State, but TDP leaders feel that they were for the party. The Centre had indeed given awards for the Polavaram project. They were in recognition of the work done but not corruption. BJP Minority Morcha national secretary Sheik Baji was among those present.
