Bar associations call for boycott of courts

Amalapuram and Rajahmundry Bar Associations on Wednesday gave a call to all advocates in East Godavari district to boycott courts on demand of immediate action against the Police Inspector Y.R.K. Srinivas of Amalapuram town, alleging that the official had booked a false cases against advocate V. Vijayakumar and arrested him, flouting the guidelines of Supreme Court.

Andhra Pradesh Bar Council member and senior advocate Muppalla Subbarao, who attended an emergency meeting of Amalapuram Bar Association, said that when Mr. Vijayakumar was appearing on behalf of his client in a civil dispute, the Inspector arrested the advocate, alleging that the advocate had a criminal history and he might abscond from the town. The Bar Council member leader demanded East Godavari SP, DIG Eluru and DGP to take departmental action and also book case against Mr. Srinivas.
