YSR Congress Chief Whip Balineni Srinivasa Reddy has challenged Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu to file affidavits against bifurcation of the State.

He told reporters here on Sunday that the Chief Minister’s claim of opposing the State division lacked any conviction.

Accusing the Chief Minister of enacting a big drama on the directions of the Congress high command, he said: “If he (Chief Minister) is sincere in opposing the State division, he should submit affidavit against the bifurcation.”

Mr. Naidu should shed his ‘opportunism’ on the statehood issue, the YSRCP leader said, adding that it was only the YSRC which had taken a clear stand in support of unified Andhra Pradesh. It was unfortunate that the TDP had asked its leaders from Telangana and Seemandhra to speak in different voices even at this stage, he added.

Referring to the Brijesh Kumar tribunal award on sharing of the Krishna waters, he said the Congress government ‘totally failed’ to protect the State’s interests. At least now the State government should take corrective steps to get justice from the Supreme Court.
