The Tirupati Urban Police conducted a series of surprise checks in the temple city, particularly at the transit points, ahead of the 'Black Day' (Demolition of Babri Masjid) observed on December 6.
On Friday, the officials conducted checks near the Renigunta check-post, inspecting the vehicles and items being carried by the people. Similar checks were also conducted at railway and bus stations, during which Tirupati Urban SP Gopinath Jatti directed the officials. Bomb disposal and dog squads thoroughly checked the abandoned vehicles, dustbins and other vulnerable locations. The SP also enquired about the status of luggage scanners at the entrance of Tirupati railway station and directed the officials to get the faulty ones repaired at the earliest.
