It is ready to fund introduction of novel teaching methods

Apollo Hospitals chairman Pratap C. Reddy has said that as a part of the corporate social responsibility, the Apollo group is willing to fund for the introduction of novel teaching methodologies in school and college education, with emphasis on the government institutions, to usher in academic excellence.

The Apollo chairman was taking part in the distribution of cash incentives to the meritorious students who obtained 10 GPA in the class X examinations at a programme held at the Total Health Division at Aragonda village of Tavanampalle mandal on Thursday.

As many as 40 students were given ₹25,000 each in the form fixed deposit. Teachers of various government schools and several parents also participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pratap Reddy said that as a part of the new educational policy, the government schools need to be galvanised with novel teaching methods and digital libraries, in addition to the basic infrastructure. He said that having initiated CSR schemes in the government schools and Isha-administered school of the Apollo in Tavanampalle mandal, the Apollo hospitals would chalk out an action plan to cover more number of schools in Andhra Pradesh and elsewhere in India.

“It is a welcome sign that a number of students obtained 10 GPA from Tavanampalle mandal, thanks to the CSR initiatives,” he said.

Preventive medicine

The Apollo chairman said that the Pro-Health and Total Health projects of the Apollo hospitals received the attention of the global players in the health arena, while a number of countries were approaching the group to start the same there. “We have already achieved tremendous success in preventive medicine segment by conducting a series of free screening camps for the school students and rural population. We have plans to go global to promote preventive medicine,” Dr Pratap Reddy said.

Apollo Total Health project director J. Subbanna, Dputy Medical Director S. Rajagopal and chief administrative officer P. Dhananjay spoke about the schemes initiated by the Apollo in Chittoor district as a part of the CSR programmes.

Later, the teachers and students felicitaetd Dr. Pratap Reddy to mark the Teacher’s Day celebration.
