July 30, 2014 11:58 pm | Updated 11:58 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to establish a law university on the lines of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (Nalsar) in the State.

The decision comes in the light of the recommendations made by the then committee of judges headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice A.M. Ahmadi that there should be a national law school type of college in each State. At a meeting of secretaries held on July 1, Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao directed the officials concerned to initiate action in this direction.

Accordingly, the government in its orders (Go MS 65) said in principle permission had been accorded for establishment of Nalsar type law university at the new capital of the State.
