The Andhra Pradesh Government will release a special budget of Rs.25 crore to promote yoga in the State. The objective is to achieve health for all, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said.

Teachers will be encouraged to teach yoga in schools and bring a change in the society, Mr. Naidu said while participating in the First International Day of Yoga-2015 celebrations at A Convention Centre here on Sunday.

Mr. Naidu said that any investment on the yoga would bring down expenditure on medical and health care. Many ailments could be prevented by practicising yoga, he said adding that Andhra Pradesh would be in forefront in the yoga in the near future. He addressed a large gathering of school children and NCC Cadets, who were special invitees at the event.

Mr. Naidu said that it was a misconception that yoga belonged to one particular community or religion. The people should realize it was universal system. Be proud and part of the ancient Indian heritage of yoga, he said.

The practice of yoga rejuvenates the body and mind and helps in leading a positive life. Stinking richness and technology would not bring peace of mind, but, one could achieve a stress-free and tension-free life with yoga, he said.

Improves concentration

The Chief Minister told the students that yoga and meditation help in improving concentration. One could learn the subjects in a jiffy. For others it might take three hours, but it would take only half an hour if the yoga was an integral part of our lifestyle, he explained.

Mr. Naidu, referring to family system, said that only Indian family system was strong. One may not have comforts and fortunes, but, the family system would give sense of feeling and security. Developed nations have material comforts but not strong family system.

The senior citizens were dependent on social security in those countries, he said, adding, “The yoga day is being observed across the globe. That is greatness of our heritage.”

“Incidentally, today is Fathers’ Day also. Never let your parents down. Nor insult and disrespect them. However great may your achievements be, you should not forget your parents,” he said.

Showering his choicest praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister equated the former with Swami Vivekananda.

“That Narendra (Vivekananda) brought laurels to the country. The whole world was spellbound by his speeches. This Narendra (Modi) mesmerized the world on importance of yoga,” he said.

Earlier, the ministers, MPs, MLAs, and bureaucrats and school chidren took part in the yoga.
