‘A.P. poised to become leader in power sector’

Employees of power utilities urged to contribute their mite

AP-Transco CMD K. Vijayanand has appealed to the employees of the public sector power utilities to contribute their mite to make A.P. No. 1 in the sector.

Participating as chief guest in the Republic Day celebrations at Vidyut Soudha here on Friday, Mr. Vijayanand said AP-Genco had finalised an action plan for supplying power in tune with the global standards in Amaravati, for which ₹1,900 crore was invested in the construction of various transmission lines.

Transmission losses had been reduced from 4% to 3.34%, which was a national record, and the government targets to achieve a further reduction in the T&D losses to 3%. The transmission system availability increased to 99.95%, which was one of the highest amongst the utilities with a comparable network in the country, he added.

Receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from Mr. Vijayanand, adviser K. Ranganatham said it was an unforgettable experience for him, and exhorted the young engineers to be always geared up to face new challenges. AP-Transco Joint Managing Directors Dinesh Paruchuri and P. Umapathi and AP State Energy Efficiency Development Corporation CEO A. Chandra Sekhar Reddy were among those present.
