Andhra Pradesh Government is considering a proposal to regularise upto 125 sq. yards of land encroached by the Below Poverty Line families, said Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy here on Friday.

Addressing a press conference here on the performance of Revenue Department in the last one year, he said that the Department introduced several reforms and relaxed rules related to ‘Grama Kantham’ lands.

He said that while 'Grama Kantham' lands (lands reserved for community purposes like school, hospitall, play grounds, grave yards etc.) in villages would be protected, such lands under encroachment in the urban areas would be considered for regularisation and registration.

The department had taken several decisions to reduce hardship of general public who visit revenue offices for income, residence, family member certificate and the validity of income certificate was increased to four years. Rules were also amended doing away with the requirement to produce income certificates for selection of beneficiaries under welfare schemes if they produced white ration card.

Instructions were also given to banks not to ask for income certificates while extending crop /land loan to farmers. The Deputy Chief Minister said that a decision was taken to set up Revenue Academy to improve the performance of revenue personnel and it would extend training to surveyors.

Successful uploading of government land data in Sarkar Bhumi web portal, Mee Seva services which registered 1.58 crore transactions by public, Aadhaar seeding of pattadar passbooks which touched 89 per cent, opening of ‘Mee Bhumi’ Webland to give access to public for their land details, were some of the acievements. Formation of new revenue divisions in East and West Godavari districts, empowering Collectors for resuming allotted lands for violation of allotment rules were other achievements, he added.

Responding to questions on government's performance and implementation of election promises, Mr.Krishnamurthy said that the government’s performance was good and it implemented 20 new schemes including debt relief to farmers, disbursement of funds to Dwcra groups, enhancement of pensions, among other things. Overall government spent Rs.40,000 crores despite a revenue deficit of Rs.16,000 crore."We are not worried. We are hoping Union Government will help us," he said.
