The talks between lorry, fuel station owners and petrol tankers associations Joint Action Committee and the Andhra Pradesh government over addressing different issues, especially reduction in VAT on fuel, failed in Hyderabad.

The second round of talks will now be held by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at his camp office in Vijayawada late in the evening on Thursday, claimed JAC convenor Y.V.Eswara Rao

The JAC had launched its indefinite strike from the wee hours of Thursday. Special Chief Secretary Ajeya Kallam held a meeting with the JAC leaders for over three hours in Hyderabad to end the strike but the talks remained inconclusive.

“Authorities sought one week time to address our issues, especially reduction of VAT. We have already given enough time for the government and we cannot stop the strike till our demands are considered,” said Mr. Rao.
