Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock at the death of noted educationist, former MP and present Member of Legislative Council M.V.V.S. Murthy.

In his condolence message, Mr. Naidu stated it was a coincidence that Murthy who firmly believed in and practiced Mahatma Gandhi’s principles passed away on Gandhi Jayanti.

Through GITAM in Visakhapatnam and many other institutions, Murthy provided quality education to youth and he made his mark in politics as a Member of Parliament and MLC and also in the industries sector.

Murthy was closely associated with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) since its formation in 1982 and his services would never be forgotten, the CM observed, conveying his sympathies to members of the bereaved family. He regretted that many TDP leaders died in road accidents.

Deputy Chief Ministers K.E. Krishna Murthy and N. Chinnarajappa said Murthy’s demise was an irreparable loss to the party and that the education field has lost a stalwart.

Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said Mr. Murthy had worked hard for the development of Visakhapatnam district and his native East Godavari. His death is a loss to the TDP he said.

Energy Minister and TDP State president K. Kala Venkat Rao and others condoled the death of Murthy who was an active leader in the party since its formation three and a half decades ago.
